Magic Wars — Privacy Policy

Last updated 7 September 2026

Magic Wars has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising, and it plays entirely offline. The one exception is the leaderboard: if you choose to post a run, the game sends the name you type and that run's result. That is the only thing that ever leaves your device, and it only happens when you ask for it.

Who this covers

This policy applies to the Android game Magic Wars (package com.mcauleygames.magicwars), published by McAuley Games.

Information we collect

Only if you post to the leaderboard, and only these five things: the name you type at that moment, the deepest tier you reached, how long the run took, which side you played, and a random number the game made up for itself (see below).

We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, location, device identifiers, advertising IDs, photos, files, usage statistics or crash reports. There is no account: nothing to sign up for, no password, and nothing you are ever asked to tell us.

Permissions the app requests

One: INTERNET, used solely for the leaderboard. That is the whole list - no location, no storage, no contacts, no camera, no microphone, and no advertising ID.

Data stored on your device

The game saves your own progress so you can pick up where you left off. That save file contains only:

This file is kept in the app's own private storage on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the game. Nothing in it is transmitted except that last item, which goes with a leaderboard post. The name you use on the leaderboard is typed fresh each time you post and is not saved into it.

The random number

It exists to solve one problem: two people can pick the same name. Without something to tell them apart, the second Brian to post would either wipe out the first Brian's run or lose their own. With it, both keep their own place and the second is shown as Brian 2.

It is generated by the app using nothing but chance. It is not your device ID, not an advertising ID, and is not derived from your device, your account, or anything about you - two installs on the same phone would get different numbers. It is never shown to anyone, it is not used for advertising or analytics, and it is not shared with anybody. If you clear the game's data or reinstall, it is gone, and the only consequence is that your old board entry is no longer recognised as yours.

The leaderboard

Posting a run is entirely optional. If you never tap it, the game never contacts the internet and behaves exactly as it did before this feature existed.

When you do post, the game sends the name you typed along with the tier you reached, your time, your faction, and the random number described above, to leaderboard.mcauleygames.com. One row is kept per player, replaced only when you beat it. If the name you chose is already taken you are given the same name with a number after it, and told so.

Pick a name that is not your real one if you would rather not be identifiable - the game does not care what you type, and every name is shown publicly on the board. Only the top 50 places are displayed, so an entry can drop off the board as other people post better runs.

To have an entry removed, see how to delete your leaderboard entry.

Children

Magic Wars is suitable for general audiences. Nothing is sent anywhere unless a player chooses to post to the leaderboard, and the only personal detail involved is the name typed at that moment - which does not have to be a real one. The random number sent alongside it describes nothing about the player or their device. We do not ask any player for their age, name, email address or anything else about them.

Third parties

Magic Wars contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks and no analytics libraries.

Leaderboard entries are stored on infrastructure we run ourselves - a Cloudflare Worker and its database. They are never sold, and never shared for advertising or any other purpose. Cloudflare carries and stores that data as our hosting provider, which is not the same as handing it to a third party of their own.

Google Play itself may collect information when you download or update the app. That is covered by Google's privacy policy, not this one.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of the game ever collects data — for example if advertising is added — this page will be updated before that version is released, and the Play Store listing will disclose it.
